Dumping a gently used desk in the garbage when your home office suddenly needs to turn into a nursery can seem like a waste.

But finding a willing buyer with a big truck in New York City isn’t easy. And selling items on a website like Craigslist can mean letting strangers into your home to check out the merchandise.

Kalam Dennis and Reham Fagiri are hoping to give budget-conscious New Yorkers a better option with New York City-based startup AptDeco, which connects wannabe buyers and sellers of “preowned” home furnishings.

In recent years, online clothing resale stores have been trying to loosen the lock sites like eBay and Craigslist have had on selling used threads.
